The Association of Nepali Physicists in America (ANPA) Physics Education Research (PER) Division is pleased to present the New Faculty Orientation Workshop 2026, a virtual program designed to support and inspire new and early-career faculty members in their teaching, research, and academic careers.

The workshop will bring together experienced faculty members and educators to share practical approaches, experiences, and insights on effective teaching, student engagement, research mentoring, and the use of emerging technologies in education.

A Program Focused on Teaching, Research, and Student Engagement

The first hour of the workshop will feature short presentations addressing several important aspects of modern physics education:

  • Effective Engagement in Learning through Simulations and Collaborative Problem Solving — Dr. Rudra Kafle, Worcester Polytechnic Institute
  • Engaging Undergraduate Students in Research — Dr. Binod Nainabasti, Lamar University
  • Engaging Students in Learning through AI Tools — Dr. Ramesh Dhungana, University of Colorado at Denver
  • Effective Engagement in Laboratory Activities — Dr. Umesh Silwal, University of North Carolina at Charlotte

These presentations will highlight practical strategies that faculty can incorporate into their classrooms and laboratories to create more interactive, engaging, and effective learning environments.

Learning from Experienced Faculty

The second hour will provide an open forum where senior faculty members will share their experiences in teaching, research, mentoring, and navigating academic careers. Participants will also have ample opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussion.

The workshop is particularly intended for new and prospective faculty members, graduate teaching assistants, early-career educators, and teachers at all levels who are interested in strengthening their approaches to physics education and academic research.
