Belu Devi Joshi PhD Dissertation Award- Estd. 2026
Purpose of the Award
The Award recognizes excellence in PhD research in physics by individuals of Nepali origin, and promotes high-quality scholarship within the community.
This award is dedicated to the memory of Late Belu Devi Joshi, whose deep belief in education and lifelong encouragement of her children to study, grow, and become capable individuals continues to inspire future generations.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for the award:
- The applicant must have completed a PhD dissertation in Physics, Astronomy, or a closely related field.
- The dissertation must have been successfully defended and approved within the last two calendar years (2024/2025).
- The applicant must have received the PhD degree from an accredited institution.
- The applicant must be of Nepali origin (citizenship or ancestry).
Required Application Materials
- Completed application form.
- PDF copy of the full PhD dissertation.
- Extended dissertation abstract (300–1000 words).
- Curriculum Vitae (CV) including publications.
- Advisor or university document confirming defense and degree completion.
- Nepali-origin declaration form and supporting evidence.
Submission Process
- Prepare all required documents in PDF format.
- Submit via ANPA’s online form.
- Ensure all materials are received by the posted deadline.
- Send an email to info@anpaglobal.org using the subject line “Applicant’s First Name_Last Name_Dissertation Award_Application Year” to notify ANPA that all required forms and documents have been submitted through ANPA’s website.
Evaluation Criteria
- Originality and innovation of the research.
- Scientific or technical rigor.
- Impact and significance of the findings.
- Clarity and organization of the dissertation.
- Publication record and dissemination of results.
Selection and Notification
A Review Committee will evaluate all eligible submissions and provide a recommendation to the ANPA Executive Committee, which will make the final decision. The selected awardee will be notified by email and publicly announced by ANPA.
Award Presentation
The award will be ordinarily presented during the ANPA Annual Conference. The selected recipient shall be invited to present their research at the ANPA Conference in the year the award is granted. The recipient will receive a certificate as well as a cash award of USD 500.
