Division of Physics Education and Research
Message from the PER Team
Physics Education Research (PER) is a field of study that focuses on the learning, understanding, and teaching of physics. As the learning process is a complex phenomenon involving human brains, the PER research combines elements of physics, education, psychology, and cognitive science to investigate the learning processes involved in studying physics.
The ANPA Division of Physics Education Research provides a forum for research on pedagogical techniques and strategies that will help students learn physics more effectively and help instructors to implement these techniques. This also includes the best scientific practices like active learning which will provide every student in a class an equal opportunity to learn.
This Division comprises a wider range of learners and researchers from a broader community of Nepali origin. They include physics faculty members, postdoctoral
researchers, graduate and undergraduate students, and everyone else who are interested in improving the learning of physics and quality of physics education.
It also runs or oversees programs on innovative teaching, scholarships of teaching and learning, and improving the quality of physics instruction by providing instructional training to physics teachers. We would like to encourage anyone interested to join the Division as a member and contribute to achieve our common goal of improving physics education in the community.
