Keynote Talk: Single Particle Cryo Electron Microscopy
ANPA Conference team is proud to host Dr. Joachim Frank, Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics and of Biological Sciences at Columbia University, and Distinguished Professor of the State University of New York at Albany. He is regarded as the founder of single-particle cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM), for which he shared the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2017 with Jacques Dubochet and Richard Henderson.
Date/Time: July 16, 8:00-9:00 PM ET

Keynote Talk: A multidisciplinary research journey through physics, geosciences, and computer science
Dr. Karki is currently Chair and Professor of Computer Science and Engineering Division in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. He received his doctorate in 1997 from the University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, UK. Before joining the Department in 2003, he worked as a research scholar at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Karki was awarded the National Science Foundation CAREER grant in 2004. He won LSU Phi Kappa Phi and College of Science awards in 2008, and the LSU Rainmakers award in 2010. He received the JMGM graphics prize in 2009 and the JSPS fellowship in 2012. His research projects involve the development and application of a meta computing-visualization framework to address fundamental materials problems for key geophysical/geochemical implications.
Date/Time: July 17, 8:00-9:00 PM ET

Welcome to the ANPA Conference 2021, to be held on July 16-18, 2021. This is the fourth annual ANPA Conference, which will be held online on a virtual platform. Since the inception of ANPA, our major goal has been establishing and strengthing the connection between fellow researchers of Nepali origin and beyond. We are proud to continue the conference as the platform for all of us to be able to network and seek collaborative avenues with researchers in major areas of science.
The conference program will consist of invited talks, contributed talks, and a physical workshop in Pokhara, Nepal which will be hosted by PRI. We will cover a wide range of physics topics including, but not limited to condensed matter physics, AMO/Plasma physics, bio/medical physics, astronomy and space science, high energy physics, physics education research, data science, etc. We are honored to have a stellar lineup of the invited guest speakers. We invite you to use this opportunity to build a strong network among us.
Papers presented at the conference will have an opportunity to submit the manuscript for publication in the special issue of the peer-reviewed journal of Nepal Physical Society (JNPS). We also encourage submissions of review papers for all the divisions.
We sincerely hope that you will be able to join us with your exciting research presentations. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have questions. Looking forward to seeing you!

SAES has been the leading supplier of Non-Evaporable Getter (NEG) pumps and vacuum solutions for more than 5 decades. The pumps are best known for pumping H2, the major UHV load, and all other active gases extremely effectively. They are very compact and lightweight devices. For their vibration-free nature, they are suitable for any systems that do not like mechanical shaking. The non-magnetic nature of the highest technology sintered getter alloy makes them highly useful for a magnetically sensitive system allowing them installed closest to the science chamber delivering close to the nominal speed. The pumps can activate/operate at NO or minimal power consumption.
In the vacuum technologies of Particle Accelerators, Materials Science, Cold Trap, Space Science, Geoscience to name a few, the NexTorr & CapaciTorr pumps have been extensively used. The NexTorr combines the getter & ion pump technologies offering the complete solution for a wide range of vacuum applications. The highest degree of mechanical stability featured by the sintered NEGs is key to maintain the cleanliness and stability of the vacuum for years. The pumps are accompanied by their dedicated electronics and cables for their operation. Overall, the compact NEG pump system is a simple plug-and-play vacuum device.
